To understand the energy within your body and utilizing meditations to improve the well-beings of those energies, we need to start with understanding “Chakras”. Because energy meditation equals chakra mediation. There are vital points of energy within each human body. Each of these vital points in the human body are being used consciously as well as unconsciously, and significantly influence the events that happen in our lives. These vital points within the human body are known as “Chakras”. There are seven vital chakras located in different areas of the body. Your chakras (also known as biofields) are located along your spine and send and receive energy throughout your entire body.
Chakra stands for “wheel”, so imagine a spinning wheel of energy within each point of your body starting at the base of your spine. One of the main goals of meditation is to keep each chakra (wheel) spinning, open, and aligned with the other vital chakras within your body. Each of the seven chakras correspond to nerves, organs, and other areas within our body that affect not only your physical well-being, but your emotional well-being as well. Each area has its own unique property.
1 – ROOT (“I AM GROUNDED”)
The first chakra within your body is called the “Root” chakra and is found at the base of the spine. Root chakra is known to affect the stability, safety, and health of a person. This chakra is traditionally known as Muladhara. It is associated with the color red and is the connection between the body and the material world. If your feeling anxious, lonely, insecure your root chakra is not aligned. See the image below to see this chakra’s symbol and how it is impacted when balanced and unbalanced.
2 – Sacral ( “I AM CREATIVE”)
The second chakra within your body is called the “Sacral” chakra and is located in the lower abdomen. It is traditionally known as Svadisthana. It’s associated with the color orange, and connects to our feelings of love, passions, and pleasures. Pleasures are not limited to the physical intimacy that comes with sexuality, but also with the pleasures that come with sensuality. Remember sensualities relate to the senses. It’s about gratifying your appetite for things appealing to you through visuals, sounds, smells, tastes, and touches. All of these are connected to the sacral chakra. If your feeling a lack of passion & creativity, mood swings, attraction to drama/conflict, or experiencing co-dependency your sacral chakra is not aligned. See the image below to see this chakra’s symbol and how it is impacted when balanced and unbalanced.
3 – Solar Plexus ( “I AM CONFIDENT IN ALL THAT I DO”)
The third chakra within your body is called the “Solar Plexus” chakra and is located just above the navel and below the chest. located in the lower abdomen. It is traditionally known as Manipura. The solar plexus associated with the color yellow and influences one’s force and willpower. Your solar plexus is where your self-control and discipline connect. It gives you the freedom to be confident with who you are. Being true to self. If your having stomach/weight issues, or negative feelings/thoughts about yourself then your solar plexus is not aligned. See the image below to see this chakra’s symbol and how it is impacted when balanced and unbalanced.
4 – Heart (“ I AM LOVE”)
The fourth chakra within your body is called the “Heart” chakra and is located at the center of one’s chest. The heart chakra is associated with the color green and is traditionally known as Anahata. Love and understanding is the focus for this chakra. The heart chakra is the connection between the physical (material) world and spiritual world. What is your understanding of what it feels like to love a physical thing like a phone or car? Now what is your understanding of loving a living being and the emotions felt from their returned love. Both are love but that’s the differences in physical & spiritual connections. The understanding you have of each love comes from this chakra.
It’s important to keep this chakra open so that the connection between the physical chakras (1-3) and the spiritual chakras (5-7) stay aligned and flowing. The heart is the home of emotions, empathy, and compassion. If you are angry, lonely, suffer from social anxiety your heart chakra is not aligned. See the image below to see this chakra’s symbol and how it is impacted when balanced and unbalanced.
5 – Throat (“ I AM HONEST WITH MY COMMUNICATION”)
The fifth chakra within your body is called the “Throat” chakra and is located in the throat area. It is associated with the color light blue and is traditionally known as Vishuddha. This chakra allows you to understand and speak your personal truth. It is the energy of communication. If you feel anxious about public speaking, thyroid issues, or struggle effectively communicating your throat chakra is not aligned. 6 – Third Eye (“ I AM INTUITIVE”)
The sixth chakra within your body is called the “Third Eye” chakra and is a vital point found on the forehead area just above the eyes. It is associated with the color indigo and is traditionally known as Ajna. “Ajna” means “command” and “perceiving” in Sanskrit. Your third eye is associated with the qualities of intuition, wisdom, knowledge, and discernment. If your familiar with the term “gut feeling” also known as instincts, this energy comes from the third eye chakra. Balance with the third eye assists with focusing on the truth of your experiences. Having the correct flow of energy will align you with your own true nature. If you feel like you’ve lost a sense of direction in life, lack imagination, difficulty making decisions then your third eye chakra is not aligned. See the image below to see this chakra’s symbol and how it is impacted when balanced and unbalanced.
7 – Crown (“I AM COMPLETE”)
The seventh and final chakra within your body is called the “Crown” chakra and is located at the crown of your head. Think of yourself as royalty and visualize where you would place a crown on your head. This is the area of the crown energy. It is associated with the color violet and is traditionally known as Sahasrara. The crown is the completion of alignment, it provides access to higher states of consciousness. As we open to what is beyond our personal anxieties and preconceived notions, an open crown will connect mind, body, and spirit with the universe. This chakra focuses on one’s consciousness and the things relating to the High Self. If you are feeling vulnerable or unrelatable to your environment your crown chakra is not aligned.
