Marshfield Senior Center Offers Boxing Fitness Classes To Relieve Stress | WBZ NewsRadio 1030

MARSHFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Every Monday morning seniors in Marshfield are practicing their punches, training their bodies and minds for the better.

71-year-old Janet Enos said she teaches boxing fitness classes to promote improvements in hand-eye coordination, speed, balance, and core strength in her students. But that’s not the only quality of life improvements these classes offer, Enos said.

“We’re been through so much in our life that we know that there’s always going to be something, an obstacle, but you can get through anything if you fight hard enough through it. You don’t need to be a strong person or a muscle person to get through it,” Enos said.

The classes at the Marshfield Senior Center have students that range from those aged 56 to 96-years-old. Students are not hitting each other in the classes, instead they’re throwing jabs in the air to practice a bit of self-defense and release stress. Enos motioned to one of her students.

“This gentleman here was in the war, he’s got two knee replacements at 96,” Enos said.

Enos went on to say that she never thought it would great to be a senior before, but now she loves it.
