Detroit Red Wings already worried about Robby Fabbri’s health in 2022-23

The Detroit Red Wings 2021-22 season is officially in the books, and the focus is now turned to the draft and offseason. But, looking even further ahead, the 2022-23 season already has some question marks.

One of the Detroit Red Wings’ worries seems to be surrounding Robby Fabbri. The Red Wings forward had his 2021-22 season cut short due to an injury. Fabbri tore his ACL after logging 56 games and required season-ending surgery.

He is now questionable to be back on the ice by the time the Red Wings get going on the 2022-23 season. Since taking over as the team’s general manager, Fabbri has proven to be one of Yzerman’s best acquisitions.

He’s been a massive centerpiece for the Red Wings’ offense; the issue has consistently been health. Once again, there is the worry that he will not be healthy, leading to another season of him not being able to play the entire season.

Both Fabbri and Vrána seem to have some of the same luck. But, the hope is that Fabbri will be able to be back early enough to provide value for the team still.

Detroit Red Wings’ Robby Fabbri’s durability is questionable.

Fabbri is coming off of a 2021-22 season where he logged 56 games played for the Red Wings. He produced 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 total points during this season with the Detroit Red Wings.

He was back on track with the level of performance the Red Wings know he can bring to the table. Fabbri’s abilities have been on display since day one with the organization, and now he has to work to get back on the ice and do this all once again.

The ACL injury certainly does not help the Red Wings organization as they start to piece together things for the upcoming season. It will take time for Fabbri to get up to speed, and planning for that could become tough for the Red Wings organization.

Looking ahead, the Red Wings have to be hoping that Fabbri can get his rehab done in time to be skating again and miss the least amount of time possible. It was a crushing blow to lose Fabbri to a long-term injury like this, but there is still plenty of hope for him.

If Fabbri can produce another shortened season performance as he has in recent years, the Red Wings will still be more than happy, especially knowing they have three more years of him on his new contract set to begin during the 2022-23 season.
