BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) – Caravel Autism Health has several clinics spanning six states designed to help children with special needs, that includes a location in Rockford.
But the newest caravel addition in Beloit.. eases the burden on 15 clients who previously drove to Janesville for the same care.
“We need to be able to bring the services to the backyard of our families. They’re driving far distances and they’re having to work really hard to get these services. That’s not fair to them and we need to be able to give them more access to this,” says Beloit Clinical Director Dashi Ramadani.
Autism specialists work individually with each client to help them build confidence and create connections with others through applied behavior analysis therapy.. a key tool for building success in life and in the classroom.
“People don’t need to travel into the homes and waste kind of like those hours during the day where we can service straight through all day every day,” says Janesville Clinical Director Kim Wunschel.
Clinical directors say watching the clients learn and grow is remarkable.
“It’s one of the most rewarding things I think that I have ever experienced in my life. And I think any clinician that’s here to say the same thing. This is a focus for us. We’re very client-driven. And our clients mean everything to us,” says Ramadani.
“This has always been a dream of mine and a passion is to be able to have a center for kids to be able to come to and get really structured intensive one on one therapy so it’s going to be amazing to just watch us continue to grow,” says Wunschel.
The directors say they have a full waitlist of interested clients and want to create more space for them.
