MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Health District is soliciting applications for open positions on the Grant County Board of Health. Applications must be submitted by April 29.
Applications are available at the GCHD office, 1038 West Ivy Ave., Moses Lake. An online version is available on the health district website, www.granthealth.org. Applications are also available by mail or email. Interested applicants can contact GCHD at 509-766-7960 for more information.
Currently, the health board consists of seven people, all elected officials. Changes in state law will require the board to have an equal number of elected officials and people who don’t hold elected office.
New board members must be appointed by July 1, according to a GCHD press release.
The board must include representatives from public health, healthcare facilities, or a healthcare provider; public health consumers who have dealt with significant health inequities. A representative of other groups such as nonprofits, business owners, environmental public health regulated communities or a military veteran, someone on active duty or in the reserves must also be on the board.
Because the GCHD coverage area includes Native American trust lands, one of the board openings must be made available to a tribal representative, the press release said.
The Grant County Commissioners will appoint the new board members.
