It’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and for the first time, the Norwalk community came together to kick off “NorWALK for Mental Health.”
Organizers from The Norwalk Partnership, Norwalk ACTS and Norwalk Community College led participants on a 1.5 mile walk that led to a fair for mental health awareness at the Town Green.
Since the start of the pandemic, organizers say research shows that mental health is a crisis at both the state and national levels. According to local surveys, there are exceptionally high rates of depression and anxiety in students across all ages.
Saturday’s event offered the opportunity to open the door and display the mental health services available in town, as well as bring the community together.
Event organizers would also like to emphasize that it is never too late to reach out and ask for help.
