A new rent-a-rack store has just opened on Hocking Place in the CBD offering a sustainable resale service and bespoke shopping experience. Aiming to make pre-loved shopping more desirable than purchasing new, French Laundry offers full service for both the renter and the buyer ensuring every client receives a first-class experience

A shoppers delight with offerings constantly changing and reflective of the style of renters coming through the store, owner Mia Crescitelli says “We have a huge selection of activewear, casuals and corporate trends, hard to find childrenswear and statement couture pieces all nesting in their own sections to allow for an effortless and fun shopping experience. My motto is shop seconds, first”.

Their full service is just one thing that sets French Laundry apart from other rent-a-racks because not only do they contribute to the circular fashion economy by resale but they also donate corporate attire to charity Dress for Success, and give textiles not fit for resale to an organisation to recycle.

Dress for Success is a global not-for-profit organisation that helps women succeed in the corporate world by providing professional attire and developmental tools.

The current collection available in-store at French Laundry includes vintage staples as well as Australian designers like Camilla, Aje, Lisa HO, Sass & Bide, Spell and Scanlan Theodore. This is complimented with shoes, designer handbags and rare collaboration pieces like Roberto Cavalli for H&M.

Awaiting shoppers is a beautifully minimalist space thoughtfully curated by fashion category and style. Mia explains “Pre-loved clothing vastly spans time and place so it isn’t always true to size and this served as motivation to carefully merchandise the store as eye-candy” “

Adelaide’s newest rent-a rack is in great company with Adelaide having lovingly adopted the sustainable shopping concept from Finland. Mia desires to take the concept further by adding meaningful and convenient services for the Renters.

A ‘full laundry service’ sees the renter simply dropping their pieces off and picking them up when their rental period has ceased. Mia price tags and then curates their items throughout French Laundry while also promoting them online. The renter can watch their items sell through an app and can drop additional pieces off during their duration.

Mia believes that by making the resale service more convenient for the renter it will encourage more people to resell their pieces, promoting circular fashion.

French Laundry uses its online platforms to promote items in a bid to help find the perfect buyer. “I want to ensure that Renters trusting me with their items are getting full value from the French Laundry service”.

“The response has been huge. Our purchases are coming in from all corners. Some have already converted into renters.”

“I love seeing each piece come in, pricing them for the renter and curating them in this beautifully minimal space, it also gives me the confidence on where to direct buyers when they come in as I feel like I get to know each piece”.

French Laundry is located at 8 Hocking Place, Adelaide 5000

Open 6 days, Friday to Wednesday from 10am to 3pm.
