Clems To Move 900 Staff Back To The Melbourne CBD In 2024 – B&T

Clemenger Group will be returning to Melbourne CBD in 2024, after signing an agreement to lease the new workspace being developed above the iconic David Jones building at Bourke Street Mall.

The historic move will see all Melbourne-based operating companies at 474 St Kilda Rd and Como Tower relocate to the beautiful, heritage-style building in the centre of Melbourne’s business district.

This includes Clemenger BBDO, CHEP Network, Creative Activation, Redhanded, Porter Novelli, GRACosway, Quantum, Hall & Partners, LEVO, eg+ and Traffik. Sister companies under the Omnicom Media Group umbrella (including OMD, PHD and Hearts & Science) will also be based at the new workspace.

The workspace will cater for up to 900 people from these operating companies in 2024.

The 299 Bourke Street building (adjoining Little Collins St) was constructed in 1929 and its upper levels are now being transformed into a workspace for the future, without losing any of its historic character or charm.

Clemenger Group CEO Les Timar said: “This workspace will nurture creativity and create even stronger collaboration across the Clemenger Group, as we define the future of our work in a new era of technology, sustainability and flexibility.”

“It will offer Clemenger Group a new-age environment for our companies to work together and provide the most effective solutions for our clients, while allowing our people to create best-in-class capabilities.”

“It will also create a true sense of community for our people, while enabling each of our operating companies to foster their own cultures in this new workspace.”

The new loft-style workspace will be far from a traditional CBD office, with high ceilings and various entertaining areas for clients and a rooftop terrace giving us a unique perspective of the CBD.

The offices are designed by architectural firm Bates Smart – the same firm that helped create Clemenger Group’s exceptional workspace at The Pier in Walsh Bay, Sydney.

Clemenger Group chairman Robert Morgan said: “We are excited to return to the heart of Melbourne – the home of Clemenger. It was in the CBD where our founders opened John Clemenger Advertising in 1946, in the basement of a building in Bourke Street.”

“We are equally proud to be at the forefront of revitalising Melbourne’s business landscape after the pandemic, becoming the only major marketing and communication company to reside in the city.”

“Clemenger Group has served the Melbourne community for more than 75 years and we are delighted to help bring the city back to life and back to the Melbourne that we all know and love.”
