Anti-xenophobic march to take to the streets of Joburg CBD

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says they marchers will hand over two memorandums –  to the Johannesburg Central and Hillbrow Police Stations. 

 

“The planned march will commence at 10 in the morning where the marchers will leave Peter Rose Park on Empire Road in Parktown. It will then turn right into Queens Street and then left into St Hancock where they will hand over the first memorandum at the Hillbrow SAPS. 

 

“The marchers will then move to Johannesburg Central SAPS using St Hancock then turning left into Queens Street then right into Kotze. They will then turn left into Joubert merging with De Korte street in Braamfontein. They will turn left on Harrison Street and right into Commissioner where they will hand over the memorandum at the Johannesburg Central Police station.”

Fihla adds that the march is expected to conclude by 13:00. 

 

“The marchers will move to the Africa Museum at Albertina Sisulu Road in Newtown where they will disperse at 1 in the afternoon.”

 

Motorists have been advised to take note of the affected streets and possible traffic disruptions.
