Neil McCann in Rangers fitness claim as he admits ‘I don’t know where they drag that from”

Rangers Legend Neil McCann has admitted he’s been left shocked by the elite standard of Rangers’ fitness this campaign.

For the second time in a row against Celtic, the Govan side has gone into the latter stages of games against their bitter rivals and been the stronger outfit.

And that’s despite having their midweeks taken up by the latter stages of Europa League.

McCann admits today’s 1-1 draw makes Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side champions elect, but he’s happy that the squad gave everything they had to win.

He told the BBC: “Celtic are virtually home and dry now.

“I looked at the first half and felt Celtic looked the most dangerous and then they scored although Rangers enjoyed large possession spells.

“In the second half, Celtic were dominated by Rangers for the large majority of it but Celtic still retain a threat because of the speed they have in the team with Maeda, Jot and Kyogo.

“I think those players always have that threat about them. Rangers coped with it today but there was a couple of moments when it fell to Celtic and the game should have been buried.

“The game should have been out of sight for Celtic with the chances they had, lets be honest about it, but when it went on Rangers’ character and levels of fitness began to shine through.

“I don’t know where they drag that from. There was suggestions before the game, that they might surrender this game or give it up and look towards Thursday. I think the answer is there for everyone that Rangers did not leave anything on the pitch.”
