PEORIA (Heart of Illinois ABC) – Attorneys for a man charged and accused in the killing of his 73-year-old grandmother have entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

The judge also granted the defense’s request for Cody Krause, 28, to undergo a fitness evaluation after his behavior and refusal to participate in the hearing Monday and his hearing last Thursday.

Charges against Krause were read off as he appeared via laptop video held up to his cell door.

Krause did not acknowledge or answer any of the judge’s questions.

His next hearing will be June 9 at 2 p.m.
