CSI fitness program aims to encourage fitness in seniors


TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho is revamping their over 60 and getting fit program to hopefully be able to reach as many people as possible.

The program is offered through CSI and the Office on Aging, and is completely free to anyone age 60 and over.

During the height of COVID-19, many of the classes were only over Zoom, but now they are back to in-person workouts, as well as a Zoom option for those who feel more comfortable that way.

The classes are offered all over Southern Idaho from Hailey to Burley to Buhl and are held three times a week.

The director of the program says it’s important for people to stay healthy as they age.

“There are a couple of parts with our over 60 program,” said Director Jaime Tigue. “Of course, you get the physical activity portion, which is super valuable to help prevent falls when you get over 60. Typically 1 in 3 have a fall, and so fall prevention is a big deal.”

The class includes a warm-up, cardio, muscle toning, and a cooldown. For more locations of where this program is being held, check out their website.
