The vision of the Fitness and Safety Walk was to promote the new stadium as a safe place to convene  and educate the community about the importance of exercise.

The average emergency room visit for the uninsured/underinsured can cost up to $1000. According to the American Heart Associaition regular physical activity can help keep excess weight off  and increase energy. A plethora of Community Partners gathered outside Tiger Plaza to give brief presentations about the importance of exercise, mental wellness, and a heart healthy balanced diet. Constituents were also advised about on-site wraparound service Providers such as Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Teen Police Academy, Northwest Behavioral Services, Family Support Services, Walgreens,  American Heart Association, Partnership for Child Health and much much more. After residents engaged in healthcare literacy they joined The Justice League of Fitness for an energetic warm up and stretch routine before they started the walk. Throughout the walk folks were met with fruit and water at hydration stations as well as received encouragement from

members of Girl Trek, A National Walking Organization that focuses on Women and Healing. Upon completion finishers were greeted with healthy snacks from Feeding Northeast Florida, an assortment of delectable rice bowls from Flame Broilers, and a variety of breakfast bowls from Cluckin’ Chicken Food Truck. This event could not have been a success without the Edward Waters University Administration, Selfless Volunteers, and City of Jacksonville Personell.
