Odyssey Fitness, WB strip plaza headed for auction | Times Leader


WILKES-BARRE — Two high-profile commercial real estate properties in the city are headed for auction, according to online listings.

Odyssey Fitness on Coal Street is set to go to an online auction on May 20, with an starting bid of $700,000, a listing with commercial real estate company Ten-X states.

Meanwhile, a newly developed 11,600 square-foot retail strip-center on Wilkes-Barre Boulevard opposite the historic train station, which is anchored by a Domino’s Pizza franchise and other businesses, is set to go to auction on May 9 with a starting bid of $400,000.

According to the listing, Odyssey is currently owner-operated, but a new buyer has a wide array of options to reposition as another retail or similar use or to continue as a fitness center.

In operation since 1983, Odyssey is “a well-established fitness and wellness center” including a 30’ x 60’ x 4’ swimming pool, 1/10th mile jogging track, basketball and tennis courts, and an on-site restaurant.

The strip mall is described as “a reliable investment, anchored by a national tenant, with potential development expansion.”
